The Gain of Giving It Away

The Gain of Giving It Away

Whatever You Are Giving Away, Is It Really Free?

Every marketer knows the value of having a free give away on your site or blog in order to build a list. It is a well-known strategy; I give you this 25 page free report and the only thing I ask is you give me your email address. To most visitors, this transaction seems completely free and they are able to obtain a valuable report for free, but it is not completely free.

Seth Godin’s Take on  What is Free

As Seth Godin points out in this WebInkNow video, this is considered more of a transaction then a true give away. The reader is, in essence, giving you their email in exchange for the report. That is not a true give away. A true give away is passing on free information, either through your blog, a book, eBook, or other means for the sole purpose or getting your idea out into the masses. There is no expectation on your part, just a need to pass on your knowledge because you feel there is great value in teaching it to or sharing it with others.

Benefits of Giving Away

There can be a number of benefits which arise, either intentionally or not, by giving away information for free. The most important is spreading an idea with your name on it. This is valuable for a few reasons. First, you gain reputation as an authority on said idea and will be sought after for further discussion on the topic by anyone who may come across your information and find it valuable to themselves or their readers, student and such. Second, you gain trust. There is no transaction, no exchange or expectation of the receiver having to give something to you in exchange for this information. The information immediately takes on a greater value to the receiver since they feel as though they have been given a gift and third, the receiver is more inclined to pass the material on and gift it to others that they feel may also find value in it. It was initially free after all.

What should be Given Away?

If you truly believe in an idea and feel that there is greater value in the idea itself than in any benefit you may gain from monetizing it, then giving it away comes down to the personal gratification one feels when their idea becomes well known. The added benefits that may or may not arise take second stage. It may be difficult for an artist to give away their work. Even the smallest project involves a piece of us and our time. There are moments when we feel that tug to gain monetarily from it and we tend to forget the value of the piece in terms of passing on our knowledge to others. If we are truly committed to an idea then it would personally benefit us to have that idea accepted, appreciated and practiced by others. The value in that is immeasurable.

Do You Have Anything To Give Away?

Try to think of something that you may have that you could truly give for free. No expectations, no string, just give it away. I can almost predict the positive impact it could have on you and your business in the future. Go on, give it a try!

What are your thoughts on the subject? let me now through your comments.

Vital AdSense Information To Get Your Account Approved

Vital AdSense information to get your account approvedAnybody can apply for AdSense program but google does not approve all the applications. Google is very strict in their approval process so webmasters should be careful before applying for a publisher ID. Google does not disclose their approval process but from experience and research I have compiled some guidelines that will improve your chances of getting approved a lot. This post discusses the overview of the process, if you want to check out details of any area you have to refer to other articles in the website. For step by step  AdSense information, please visit:http://www.adsensehome.com/lessons/

1. Concept of your website

First and foremost read google adsense policies. Conceive your website with  Google’s Policies in mind.

2. Find out a topic

Google AdSense Informationlook for a topic which is of your interest. An easy way to find a topic of your interest is, what are the things or tasks that make you forget the track of time? Make a list of few such topics. One resource that can help you to find out the areas of your interest is, What color is your parachute, by Richard Nelson Bolles.

3. Do Keyword research on your topic

You may have your interest in a topic but the question is are other people interested in your topic area. You will be able to make money from the adsense only if you have traffic on your website. Your topic area should have at least following elements in it:
• Topic should be of your interest
• Select a topic around the keywords that have high search volume and low competition.
• keywords should have commercial value. Type your keywords in the google search. Do you see AdWords ads on the right side of the search results page. If there are not enough ads, your topic is not commercial enough. You will get paid for the adsense ads if there are AdWords ads available for the keywords.

4. Create a website

Register a domain name in your name with your correct information. Create a website. Following elements in your website enhance your chances of approval:
Professional look: You don’t have to create a piece of art but it should have professional look.
Easy Navigation: Your website should be user friendly. Visitors should be able to find content they are looking for easily.
Site behavior: As per googles guidelines, you may not redirect users to unwanted websites, initiate downloads, include malware or contain pop-ups etc.
Necessary pages on website: it is recommended your website should have ‘about’, ‘Privacy Policy’, ‘Disclaimer’ pages.
Competitive ads and services: you can not place competitive ads on your website. For details refer to google policies.
Blogger Blog: Don’t want to create a website now, create a blog on blogger. Some people also have opinion that it is easy to get approved for adsense if you have a blog on blogger and apply through that blog.

5. Create content

Like we discussed before, if the topic is of your interest, you will enjoy creating content. The result, the content will be interesting, original and inspiring. Create content for solving peoples problems. Imagine the profile of your visitor, what kind of solutions my typical visitor is looking for? Give them solutions, solve their  problems, they will love to visit your site again and again. How much content is enough? Different people have different opinions, but I would suggest at least 50 high quality  posts and some traffic to your website.

6. Traffic

Google does not say that your website should have traffic to get approved, gut it is recommended that before your apply, your website should have some traffic. How to get traffic, is a big topic. For details refer to http://www.adsensehome.com/lessons/

7. Review Googles terms again

Now verify your website complies with all of the google’s terms of service. If any changes are required, do them first and apply for google’s Adsense account.

8. Bottom line

Vital Adsense information to bet account approvalThe bottom line is Google don’t want to approve inferior sites for their ads. Your website should be professional looking, with high quality content. If you enjoy a topic all of this becomes a interesting journey. You enjoy working on your website and at the  same time you get paid for it.
I hope this was useful to you. Your feedback is very important to me. Please leave a comment. To get step by step  AdSense Information and instructions, I recommend my adsense guide, it is totally free.

AdSense for Internet Forums

AdSense for Internet Forums

Forum

One of the great advantages of the internet forums for you as a publisher is that the users create the content. Now, since you do not have much control over the content and the keywords, the ads supplied by the Adsense may not be relevant to the topic and sometimes can result in low CTR.

But we must realize that internet communities are hidden goldmines which have loyal visitors, unique content-that too created by the visitors and high level of user involvement with the content. By some clever strategies these forums can be converted into the cash generating machines.

Ad placement in Forums

Google has provided a heat map and optimization tips at the following location. Please feel free to checkout:

http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/10/six-adsense-optimization-tips-for.html

AdSense for Internet Forums

Google's heat map for forums

Do’s

• Forum members are very much focused on the topic of discussion, ads on the side bars or on top of the page is not distracting to them.

• Top post on each page grabs most attention. Place a ad below the top post on every page.

• Place a horizontal ad just below the form buttons. This is the most visited area in a forum.

• Try putting ads at the bottom of each post.

• Add a google search box at the end of the last post. If the visitor does not find what he was looking for in the threads, he may like to do a search.

• Opt in for image ads. If you have good traffic but low CTR, you can get good revenue even without the clicks.

Don’ts

• Don’t break a post by putting ads in the middle of the post.

• Don’t mix a bunch of ads in the middle of the page.
